Terracotta replica of a figure-of-eight shield

Geometric period (8th. cent. B.C.)
W: 6.50 cm L: 7.10 cm

Typical shape of a shield of the Geometric period, also known from the pictorial representations of the vessels. It probably was a votive offering, as indicated by the two holes, which undoubtedly served for its suspension.
