Terracotta figurine of a kourotrophos

Archaic period (6th cent. B.C.)
W: 7.20 cm H: 16.90 cm

Flat-bodied Boeotian figurine of a kourotrophos. The birdlike face is supported by an unusually long neck framed by the hair's strands. The atrophic arms are fully extended and a figuratively rendered baby is sitting on the left one. The garment's decoration and other details are painted with relative carelessness.
