Terracotta female figurine

Archaic period (6th cent. B.C.)
W: 10.10 cm H: 12.30 cm

Survives from the waist upwards. One of the flat-bodied figurines, probably a creation of a Corinthian workshop. The curving of the body at the lower part indicates that the figure was probably represented seated. The hair, made of additional terracotta, forms spiral locks and curling strands. A polos with attached disks is worn on the head. The ornaments are also attached: a twisted chain is worn at the neck and lower a pectoral ornament made of four bands supported by disks at the ends. Four round amulets are suspended from the lower band.
